If the dining room table expands its wings once a year, it is for christmas. The glorious holiday celebrating the birth of our savior has mated spectacular pagan traditions with nauseating consumerism and popped out a shiny new baby made of strings of lights and the china with the gold rims and swirling pink patterns from occupied Japan that mom bought at the Salvation Army.
